Training

Security TrainingEerste Services was established in 2007 and is a member of the Irish Security Training Association and Security Institute of Ireland.

Founder Pat (Patrick) Maphoso has many years experience in the security industry and is a qualified security trainer. He holds a Diploma in Security Management, a Health and Safety Certificate from UCD and the City and Guilds 7302 Certificate in Delivery of Learning.

As an immigrant to Ireland, Pat is proud that Eerste offers training that fully reflects the needs of today's multicultural society.

"Awareness of different cultures and needs is now vital to security personnel performing their duties efficiently", he says. "And for those from new communities interested in working as security staff, good training is essential for understanding Irish culture, Health and Safety regulations and laws."

"Irish law also says that every security worker must have been properly trained and licenced through the Private Security Authority (PSA) - who are responsibile for regulating the security sector. That's something we welcome."

"Eerste's courses are designed to help you meet this legal requirement," says Pat. "Those who pass an assessment at the end of 16 hours of Basic Job Training can be registered on the PSA database. Each graduate will be issued with a certificate at FETAC Level 4 and a numbered I.D tag."

"Our aim is to make this training as accessible as possible," he explains. "We offer courses in Dublin city centre and can also provide training in Cork, Galway and Limerick. For those concerned about the written assessment, there are supports available for those with literacy difficulties or other needs."

Your qualification

All Basic Job Training (BJT) courses with Eerste are registered and certified by FETAC through the Irish Security Training Association. They are also accredited internationally by the UK-based SITO (Security Industry Training Organisation).

Our Philosophy

"We keep it short and simple," says Pat. "The name Eerste sums up our goal - in Afrikaans it means FIRST."
